The story

The old inn. . .

In old times the main building was an inn, for people travelling through Garfagnana for commerce or businnes.

It is situated along an old road, called "Via Vandelli", which lead from the province of Modena to that of Massa through Garfagnana valley.

The large arch door with a sun carved on the top (it gives the name to our farmhouse), was once the main entrance to the inn, and we always imagine groups of tired travellers with horses and carts who stopped for resting in the inn.

The bell factory. . .

Everybody knows that in the small building near the old oven, there was a bell factory, there metals were fused, especially bronze, and bells were made.

The factory was famous all over the region, and old people of the village remember that when metals were fused kids were kept apart and they looked from far away smoke coming out of the building.

There is now a small apartment called "Le campane" (the bells) just to remember this part of the the story.
